I am so very sorry to hear that my old friend Randy Weiss is no longer with us. I started to play music with Randy in the 10th grade. He was an excellent guitarist and on top of that he supplied a lot of the instruments for his bandmembers. I got to play Randy's Höfner bass through a Super Beatle Vox amp. That's was the same system that Paul played and plays. We performed mostly psychedelic music in those days. So much fun. Randy will be missed…
Haven't seen or corresponded with Randy in 20 years, but now I find I'm missing him terribly.
We weren't close in High School - friendly but not more - but became songwriting partners for several years after that and became very close. I entered the extended family that gathered around him and his gracious and welcoming folks. A fine musician and generous soul.
Randy was a very kind person. He did not have a mean bone in his body. We were in a bit different circles in High School, but we could always talk about music.
The last time I saw him was at our twenty year reunion. As was typical of him, he invited a few of us back to his home for some food and a few glasses of wine, We spoke about old times and our current lives. Such a pleasant evening and memory.
The email saturday mentioning his passing hit me a bit more than I would have expected having not seen him in such a long tome. Mortality is more fleeting than all of us would care to admit.
RIP, Randy. You lived an interesting, if too short of a life. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Randy was, as I recall, bright, articulate,
introspective and always hung out with
Lysia and Gary.
i coincidentally, ran into him in London -
in 1972. We saw Weather Report,
at Ronnie Scott's jazz club.
thats the last time I saw Randy.

May his memory be for a blessing.
